How to Make Nursery Dark

Sleep is as important as food, whether for babies, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. A good night’s rest helps our bodies regenerate cells and recover energy after a long day.

On the other hand, lack of sleep makes us moody and fussy. We hate it when that happens!

The amount of sleep that we need depends on our age. Newborns need the most hours: fourteen to sixteen – longer than the hours that they are awake.

However, as babies grow, they require less. According to research, longer sleep duration is generally associated with better body composition, emotional regulation, and growth in children aged zero to four years*

See how it affects your little one’s development physically, emotionally, and mentally? As a parent, all we can do is provide our kids a comfortable space for sleeping.

Adjusting the environment that they are in is all in our hands.

Lightness and darkness affect our internal clock called the circadian rhythm. Unfortunately, a newborn’s internal and external clock is not yet in sync.

But don’t worry! As your little one grows, their circadian rhythm will develop over time.

I have consulted with Pediatric Sleep Consultants, and all of them recommend creating a dark space for sleeping.

A child’s cue on whether it’s time to be awake or asleep is through light and dark – having a dark sleep space can help avoid those pesky early morning wakings.

It’s a win-win situation for both parents and baby!

Light saturation can make it more difficult for your child to fall asleep and disrupt their sleep cycle.

The easiest and most cost-effective solution for quality sleep is blackout curtains, and I can help you with that!

From taking the correct measurements to guide you on how to hang the curtains, I’ll be glad to assist. Since I am an Interior Designer, I can answer questions about decor, too!

Our blackout curtains are not just window covers. With over 750 designs available, you can reflect your little one’s personality and make their room a cozy sanctuary.

You don’t have to hire a sewist or have a big budget to get custom handmade curtains

With Teepee Joy around, you can order the design with the precise dimensions exactly how you want it, and it will be delivered right in front of your doorstep.
